See SewLomax at the Selvedge Spring Fair!

Firstly – Im SO PROUD to have been voted as a runner up in the Sustainable City Awards last night in London! It was a great night and I got to meet lots of lovely people. If I met you, don’t forget to say hello on Facebook or Twitter!

This weekend it is the Selvedge Spring Fair, which is held in Chelsea Old Town Hall in Chelsea, London. Im really excited about this event, and there will be over 100 other stalls and companies like mine at the fair so you’re guaranteed to find something brilliant and (more importantly) handmade and ethical that takes your fancy!

I will be at the Selvedge Spring Fair on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd at stall C22. If you pop by and say hello to me at my stall you can get your hands on a free embroidered tote bag from my current collection! My canvas tote bags are some of my favourites from the SewLomax range, and I love their designs. Heres why I chose them:

The Book Bag Tote
We all need at least two handbags, (or maybe some sort of small mule/cart horse to carry all of our things around with us everyday!) but taking in to consideration how busy it gets on the tube this would not work. So I came up with my embroidered tote bags, which can help you carry around those extra essentials.

The Bikini Tote
I used to have a bikini like this when I was little, and I have been looking for one just like it ever since I grew out of it, so I have recreated it on a bag. For me - on the beach or by the pool - I always get worried about having my phone in the bottom of the bag, risking getting covered in sun cream, so I made sure whilst designing this bag that there are some zipped pockets on the inside, preventing this situation from occurring,

The Daily News Tote
My handbag is a bottomless pit and always overflowing so that I can never find what I am looking for! I wanted to create a bag which allows you to become more organized. The Daily News Tote is large enough for all computers, files and papers, this really is perfect for work and so you don’t have to stretch and break your leather bag (and at the same time keep looking stylish!)

You can read more about my embroidered canvas totes here, in another blog post I wrote about them.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting some of you this weekend at the Selvedge Spring Fair
and giving away some free tote bags!!

Summer saving starts now! The story behind my Penny Purse..

Well, since my last post the sun has been and gone already! Its even been snowing in the UK, so summer is a long way off I think. So, now is the perfect time to start thinking about sunshine and sandy beaches and swimming in the sea - time to book your summer holiday!

But unfortunately, we all know that wanting to go on holiday isn't enough to be able to actually do it, and most of the time some saving needs to be done. So, whilst cutting back on spending in the run up to your trip away isn't exactly fun, make it more enjoyable with a Sewlomax canvas Penny Purse!

This embroidered purse was inspired by my lovely Mum! My mother is called Penny and so I wanted to do a design specifically for her to say thank you for teaching me all the tricks of the trade. I grew up watching her sew and embroider and make all sorts of wonderful creations, and it spurred me on to start putting together my own designs and work hard to make SewLomax a reality!

Like all of the canvas bags in my collection, the Penny Purse is made from eco-friendly and ethically sourced cotton, which has been treated with Scotchguard to protect it from spills and dirt. The Penny Purse is lined with my limited edition SewLomax printed lining, and secures with a metal zip fastening to keep all of your hard earned money safe!

The Penny Purse is just £12 at www.sewlomax.com so it wont make a big dent in your holiday spending money! Also, don't forget that it is Red Nose Day this friday, so try and
donate some of your pennies to the cause :)

Prepare for spring with my canvas tote bag!

The sun has finally arrived in London - hooray! But, as much as Im enjoying being able to wear sunglasses and leave the house with a scarf, hat and gloves, by the time the evening rolls around its been getting quite chilly again. Planning my outfits for the day has got harder because Im having to plan for the sun and the cold, so this is where my embroidered tote bag saves the day!

Measuring a whopping 41cm x 46cm, my canvas shopping bags are roomy enough to store everything you'll need for the sun - and the chill - of a March day! Stash an extra layer of clothing - a cardigan, a hoody, even a jacket! - in your SewLomax tote bag and you'll be prepared for whatever the British weather throws your way! With 3 inside pockets to hold your phone, keys, sunglasses, oyster card or whatever you can't live without, this is the only bag you'll need this spring!

Each of my eco-friendly canvas bags are 100% canvas and protected with Scotchguard™on the outside to ensure that your tote bag is safe from little annoying spring stains! Be careful with your icecream drips though, it may be wipe clean, but not protected from stubborn marks and stains.

With this SewLomax bag storing and carrying your things couldn't be easier, but here come the hard part - choosing your design! The Daily News tote bag is perfect for city girls and boys who are always on the go, my canvas Book bag is great for book worms and avid readers (even if you only read on a kindle!) and the embroidered bikini tote bag is popular with girls who love the beach and pretty swimwear. Each of these bags are a bargain at £20 each.

If you can't decide which embroidery is your favourite, you can even bespoke your own SewLomax tote bag for only £45 (or you could just buy all 3 designs!!) Start with a blank canvas tote bag and add your initials to the bottom in either blue or pink writing, then wear your bag with pride every day!

All of these bags are available at www.sewlomax.com, why not treat your mum to one for Mother's Day? I bet she deserves to be pampered! If she already has a wardrobe full of bags, take a look at my Mother's Day Pinterest board for some alternative creative gift inspiration!
